Knappett’s Saanich fire station project approaches commissioning
Saanich reports the building at 90% complete, with civil works and site improvements continuing into the next phases.
Saanich’s August 2026 update puts Fire Station #2’s building structure, envelope, mechanical and electrical systems, and interiors at 90% complete. Knappett Projects Incorporated is the project contractor.
The remaining programme extends beyond the building itself. The district reports operations and training-site works at 60% and Viewmont Avenue infrastructure at 70%. It targets mid-September for the new cul-de-sac’s curbing and asphalt, while road and traffic-control work on Royal Oak Drive and Elk Lake Drive is scheduled through the end of 2026.
Staff occupancy is planned for early in the fourth quarter, after commissioning and occupancy approvals. Landscaping is expected to continue from late 2026 into early 2027, with demobilization, public art and a public opening planned for the first quarter of 2027.
These are the district’s published targets, not a confirmation of occupancy. Contractors arranging deliveries should consult current site and traffic instructions.
